Sweet & Salty Muddy Buddies

I love sweet treats, but I also love salty ones. I’ve been tempted to try making Muddy Buddies for awhile now but fearful I would eat the whole bowl. I was right! They are truly fabulously delicious.

I modified the traditional recipe to incorporate the salty flavour I love.

A delicious treat that is the perfect amount of salt to offset the sweetness. Watch out once you stop eating this, you can't stop!
Servings: 20

Ingredients
  • 9 cups Chex Cereal
  • 2 cups Bite Sized Pretzels
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp course salt
  • 2 cups icing sugar
Instructions
  1. Place cereal and pretzels in a large bowl and set aside.
  2. In a microwaveable dish combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, butter and vanilla.
  3. Microwave mixture on high for 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat until mixture is fully combined and smooth.
  4. Sprinkle course salt over the top of cereal mixture.
  5. Pour mixture over cereal and pretzels and combine.
  6. Pour 1/2 cup of icing sugar into a large ziploc bag, fill bag 3/4 full with cereal mixture, shake until coated.
  7. Place coated cereal mixture on parchment lined cookie sheets, spread out and allow to cool.
  8. Repeat sugar coating until all cereal is coated and cooling.

If you’d prefer traditional Muddy Buddies, here is the recipe.

I just printed the recipe for Sweet & Salty Muddy Buddies, very anxious to try them. I was a bit disgruntled at getting 9 extra pages of stuff, I hope this will be rectified. Easier solution is to take the time to write the recipe and save a lot of paper.
