5 Reasons Why I Loved Disney’s Lone Ranger
1. The story – love that Disney tackled a Classic – a story my parents loved and I enjoyed.
2. Johnny Depp’s performance – I was surprised at how well Depp played Tonto. I feared that it would be to light and not enough depth to the character. I was very wrong.
3. The scenery – honestly some of the most beautiful shots of the natural scenery. Stunning.
4. Silver – ‘played’ by a startlingly beautiful horse that is filled with the personality and tricks the ‘character’ needed to embody.
5. The Special Effects – from train crashes to explosions, the movie does not disappoint – it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole film.
Admittedly, I was a bit hesitant to see this film. I love the story but as someone who studied Native American history I was worried about the portrayal of Native Peoples and whether or not it would be accurate. I was pleasantly surprised that the film showed the settlers as the barbarians and the Aboriginal people as respectful and caring.
I loved the action, the humour, the special effects, the acting and the storyline. All of them kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. One of my favorite part is the suspense of when the Lone Ranger theme song would be used and they saved it to the perfect moment.
Would I recommend this film: Absolutely! This is a film everyone, young and old will love.

This is one I am hesitant to see – that’s why I read your review! I am surprised you enjoyed it. Now I may need to go see this. I am worried about the Depp character too. It just seems odd casting to me.

Depp does a great job – I found his portrayal similar to his Captain Jack character but very different at the same time. Would love to know what you think!

It is great entertainment and true to the Lone Ranger original series. I was pleasantly surprised by the portrayal of Aboriginal Peoples.

Although I’m a big Johnny Depp fan ;), I would not normally be interested in a movie of this type. But you have changed my mind a bit. :)
I usually don’t go see these kind of movies {I’m a comedy or happy ending kind of girl} but this one might be good! My dad likes to buy the BlueRays after they come out on disc, so maybe I’ll be watching this at some point :) Thanks for the review!

Depp seems to excel at any character that is whimsical and/or unique, so hearing he did well here isn’t surprising to me! And the scenery certainly looks beautiful from the image you posted. Glad you enjoyed the movie!

I haven’t seen this yet. I am a HUGE fan of Johnny Depp, but I am becoming worried that in every character he does, I see glimpses of Jack Sparrow. I will definitely see the movie, but not in the theatre I don’t think!
My husband’s a Native American. They do have a fascinating history and culture.
