As summer winds down and we get ready for Back to School the boys and I have been taking things easy – soaking in those last days of time at home and no agenda. It’s been a fantastic summer full of beach days, fishing, and afternoons cooling off from the midday sun with Netflix. The boys have loved watching VeggieTales in The House, Dinotrux, and Ask The StoryBots. I find myself engrossed in their shows because they are entertaining and informative.
Our newest family show is Beat Bugs a fantastic show featuring the music of The Beatles you will be hooked by the main title! With the song lyrics incorporated into the show so many of your Beatles favourites are included tales of five young bugs. Great for kids four years old and up (younger kids can watch but may not get all of the storyline).
My favourite part about the show is the boys and I have been singing along to the Beatles tunes – such wonderful music for them to be exposed to through a medium they understand. Even if you aren’t a big Beatles fan you will love the way songs are woven into a storyline – that combined with fantastic animation makes Beat Bugs highly entertaining. The little boy my daughter babysits enjoyed Dinosaur Train when I was there. I let him watch it on my computer when the older kids did not want to play with him since I did not want to see him so sad. The next time I came over he asked right away if we could watch it again. I enjoyed the series Call The Midwife.

My daughter LOVES “The Legend of Korra” (“Avatar” follow-up cartoon). The last season debuted on Netflix during the summer! Really nice series with a very nice ending,
My little one LOVES the movie Tangled, and the series Paw Patrol. As for me, I love the series River, and of course House of Cards.

I currently don’t have Netflix. We are very interested in getting in but, having not had the courage to jump. It could be a good or a bad thing. We like the options that are available like X Files – but, need to see if more of our tv shows like Big Bang Theory. This would be awesome to let us have a test run to see if we like it.
