Heart Filled Cupcakes

Whether you’re looking for a sweet surprise for your sweetheart or a fun Valentine’s surprise for your little ones these heart-filled cupcakes are easy, fun and absolutely delicious.

The beautiful buttercream tastes like it has a special ingredient to make it even more delicious but other than some lemon juice it is pure vanilla buttercream.

If you’d like to add a flavour try putting in a couple of drops of a strawberry flavouring. Don’t forget cute heart shaped sprinkles and you’re ready to make your own heart filled cupcakes.

Heart Filled Cupcakes Directions:

Make cupcakes according to a boxed chocolate cake mix or make your own chocolate cupcakes.
Once cooled use a cupcake corer or a knife and carefully cut out the middle of the cupcake.
Fill with heart sprinkles, then top with buttercream icing.

Pink Buttercream Icing

Ingredients:

1/2 cup salted butter
4 cups icing sugar (powdered sugar)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp lemon juice
pinch of salt
A tiny bit of Wilton pink gel icing color for color. (the amount that fits on a knife tip) Add more if desired.

Directions:

In a stand mixer add the butter and half the icing sugar and mix until combined.
Add in vanilla, lemon juice, and remaining icing sugar and mix thoroughly.
Add a pinch of salt and whip until light and fluffy.
Place inside a piping bag with a Wilton large star icing tip.
Top with a few heart sprinkles.
