Since I was a kid making holiday Rice Krispies Treats has been a favourite family tradition and one that I was excited to recreate with my boys. There is something so delicious about Rice Krispies Cereal, marshmallows and butter – it’s snack perfection! This year we are changing our tradition to create rice krispies treats that also give back through the Treats for Toys Campaign. For every rice krispies treat you make and share on social media (Twitter, Instagram and/or Facebook) with the hashtag #TreatsForToys Rice Krispies will donate a toy to a deserving child this holiday.
You can find the patterns to cut out inside special Holiday Rice Krispies Cereal boxes or find them as a .pdf on the Treats for Toys website. From robot to a racecar and everything in between your family will love creating special toy-like treats and decorating them with your favourite candy.
Supplies for Rice Krispies Treats:
- 6 cups Holiday Rice Krispies Cereal
- Pattern on inside of the box or the Treats for Toys Website
- 1 bag of marshmallows
- 1/4 cup butter
- Cutting board
- Sharp knife
- Icing
- Assorted candies
This year, Canadians can make a big difference simply by making RiceKrispies treats, as Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and The Salvation Army join together for their third-annual Treats for Toys holiday program. The campaign inspires Canadians to create toy-shaped treats and upload a photo of their creations to RiceKrispies.ca. For every photo uploaded before December 21, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army for the purchase of an actual toy for a child in need. In the first two years of the campaign, Canadians helped Kellogg’s Rice Krispies raise more than $60,000 for The Salvation Army to buy toys for children in need.

Rice crispy treats are my very favorite desserts. I LOVE them. It’s dangerous to have a pan of them around me. I double love that they are giving back with the Treats for Toys campaign… and triple love the rice crispy treat patterns. Oh and your little man? Too cute for words.
