Books are a big part of our life. We started reading to our kids when they were only three months old and now they love books. It’s part of our nighttime routine and over the years we come to have some favorites. Here are 6 Books Every Toddler Should Read.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
This book is a classic. Published in 1969, the hungry caterpillar is a colorful character that will delight your kids with its appetite and the outcome.
Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman
This is another classic that your children will love! It’s about a new born baby bird that is on the search for its mom, with some cases of mistaken identity along the way.
Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell
Dear Zoo is a fun lift the flap book that will have the kids making animals sounds and asking you to read this book over and over again.
The Water Hole by Graeme Base
Once you pick up this book, you will fall in love. The beautiful pictures and lovely story will make this a favorite at reading time, I promise.
Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
If you haven’t read this before, it’s a great story about a mother’s love for her son put into words that a toddler will understand and remember.
Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
And finally, no toddler library is complete without Goodnight Moon. It’s the perfect story to help your child fall asleep at night as he reads about what one little rabbit
does before going to bed.

These are great books! I love you forever is a favorite at our house, as well as the Eric Carl books. We also love the Sandra Boynton books. There are so many books we could add, and as a parent who loves sharing great books, l would like to share the discovery of some amazing books that are fun, educational and lend themselves for some very special moments with the little ones. If you do not know about Barefoot Books, I would invite you to take a look. The singalongs are a favorite for toddlers. For a sampling, the videos of some of these singalongs are available on YouTube and there are complimentary crafts and activity sheets on the website.
