Prior to my twins birth I was an avid scrapbooker. I loved to create personalized albums filled with photos, tickets, memorabilia and keepsakes to chronicle a trip or a specific chapter in my life. I would spend hours creating them. When I was pregnant I bought lots of supplies to capture their infancy in the same way. They are still in a box in the closet. Not a single page created, not a single photo placed in those books. I really wished that I did create those books with those memories when they were fresh.
One of my favourite things about having my children in this digital age is the convenience of having your smartphone with you to capture so many precious moments. From Facetiming my parents who were travelling so they can watch the boys skating lessons or capturing photos and videos of the boys doing everyday awesome things I always have my phone ready to capture the moment. But then, what happens to all of those digital memories? They get uploaded to my laptop and sit in iPhotos forever until I back them up to an external hard drive. Either way they are far from becoming something lasting and shareable. I’ve created photo books and calendars and print photos when I remember but in truth I only do this maybe once a year. A far cry from those pre-children days when I would get super excited about 500 print sales and get zillions of photos printed and into books.
When I was introduced to TimeWyse’s Locket App I thought it was genius! An app that allows you to store photos, videos and sound recordings was a great way to capture my boys in real time. To use this app you must first download the Locket app from iTunes
Then begin to record your child(ren)’s lives through video, photos and voice recordings. This month I have been focused on capturing my boys excitement over the early snow and getting ready for Christmas. I love that I was able to add photos of snow shovelling, school art and special memories (putting up the Christmas tree).

This looks like an awesome app. I started two documentary blogs for my boys when they were born so I could share their milestones with family and friends who live far away but its been years since I updated them. I never kept up with it. Its a shame.

What a neat app! Baby Books, scrapbooks, and photo albums are quickly becoming a thing of the past, so it’s great to have an app that lets you keep track of everything happening in your kid’s lives in real-time.
