Growing up there was a restaurant in my town that served this pail of dirt and worms for birthdays. As a kid I absolutely loved it! A pail, a shovel, ice cream, pudding, cookies, and gummy worms = kid heaven. In honour of that fabulous dessert I made my family these Dirt and Worms Pudding Cups made with just four ingredients you can make for a special dinner, party or dessert table.
Here’s what you will need:
- clear plastic cups
- foil lined cupcake cups
- chocolate pudding (I used Jello instant pudding mix)
- chocolate cookie crumbs (mine were from a bulk food store, but you can easily make your own)
- chocolate rocks
- gummy worms
My Dirt and Worms Pudding Cups were made in two sizes perfect for portion sizing. I used foil lined cupcake cups so that they were more stable but they still spread out once the pudding was in. The cups are easy to make and perfect for little hands to help too!

Where my Grandparents used to live there was a restaurant that served “Mud Pail Pie”. So good!

My mom used to make this dessert for us all the time growing up! She’d mix cool whip into the pudding and it was so delicious. I made a version for my halloween party a couple years back and used baby cookies as tomb stones in with the worms.
Thanks for reminiscing with me ;)
