Today my Dad went in for major heart surgery. As someone who lives in wonder at the miracles doctor’s can produce I was optimistic that everything would go well. Dad was scheduled to have a triple bypass, his aortic valve replaced and part of his heart wall rebuilt. It was one of those surgeries that I have only seen on Grey’s Anatomy, not something that actually happens to people in my life. But, today it did. The good news is that he made it through the surgery. Unfortunately there were complications and he had to be taken back in, the second surgery was successful and he is now resting. I am praying he has a good night and that we get good news tomorrow.
Life is full of ups and downs, and today was one of those days when it felt like a roller coaster. But, we need to have faith that things will work out in the end. Tonight, my boys still have their grandfather. And that is something to be truly thankful for.

My FIL had a quintuple by-pass in 2008. His grandfather died of a massive heart attack at approximately the same age. It’s amazing the miracles that modern medicine have created! I hope your father recovers and gets to go home soon.
