To cap off a remarkable weekend my husband and I took in Cirque du Soliel’s newest show, Amaluna.
It was remarkable.
Intrigued by a story based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest and a name that draws together the ideas of “Mother Moon” and the relationship between mother/daughter and goddess/protector. With a familiar storyline as a backdrop, Amaluna brings together an age-old story of love, hardships, and celebration.
The performances, the costuming and set/tent scape were breathtaking and I still cannot believe that humans are able to dance, jump, tightrope walk, or move like that. The balancing act done by Lara Jacobs Rigolo was absolutely mind-blowing. Her dexterity and focus were unlike anything that I have ever seen before.

If you have never had the opportunity to see Cirque du Soliel, I do insist that you make plans to. Not only is the circus tent and atmosphere something that is unlike any other live show, the performers’ engagement with the audience and masterful display of their various talents will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is really something for everyone. Tumbling, dancing, traditional circus acts, comedy, dance, and a kick a*& all-female rock band that brings everything to life. Amaluna is really a show worth seeing. Worth every single penny.
For those of you interested in taking your children to see Amaluna I would definitely recommend it. However, my advice would be to take children over five as there are loud noises and dark scenes in the show that might be scary for young children.

*My husband and I paid for our own tickets to this show. This review is purely my opinion of performance I truly enjoyed. I was in no way asked to write this review.

Thanks! I was wondering if this was a good performace or not, I had heard good reviews. I’m also glad you included if it was kid-friendly or not. I think I’ll take my 6 year old and get a sitter for the 3 year old.
