Father’s Day was bittersweet around here. While I love the opportunity to celebrate my husband and all the sacrifices he’s made to be a stay-at-home-Dad, my Dad’s recent illness and never-ending complications have made it really difficult to celebrate.
3 weeks ago my Dad had surgery for prostate cancer and while the surgery appeared to go well he’s spent the last three weeks in and out of the hospital, to emerg, to the doctor’s and back home. An endless number of complications, a doctor who admitted he made a mistake during the surgery and an exhausted Dad and Mom. I pray that all of this will end soon and that we’ll get his cancer results back.
But, it was pretty wonderful to be home with my hubby and my boys. At school my boys made their Dad these tiles with handprints and the questionnaires. Their answers were priceless! Can’t wait until they are older to share their silly 3 year old answers!

I LOVE those questionnaires and can’t wait to do them with my daughter! I love the ‘ he has black hair and RED eyes’ too funny!!! – Sorry to hear about your dad’s health complications.. I can’t begin to imagine how hard that is. Sending you and him strong and positive vibes. Hope you get some good news soon. xo

Thank you Jess – yes we’ve been laughing about red eyes for more than a day now! I swear they just answer them as quickly as possible so they can go back to playing :)

So sweet! I’m sure your husband was touched and tickled by these cute gifts from his sons.
I’m sorry that your own father is having so many post-surgery complications. Hopefully his recovery will continue on a smoother path. Having cancer is frightening enough without these additional complications.
I personally know two people who were diagnosed with prostrate cancer. After surgeries and treatments, they are both doing very well. Offering prayers that the same will be said for your Dad.
