I have been trying to teach my boys to give me a kiss for what seems like ages. Whenever I tried, they would lean over for me to kiss them on the forehead. Even at night, in their cribs they lean over and put their forehead against the bars so that I can kiss them before bed. Whenever I tried to give them a real kiss, they laughed and giggled. Today while reading a story, low and behold, one of the boys leaned over, grabbed my head and planted one on me! Unfortunately, it was a big wet, open mouthed kiss. I perhaps should have marvelled at this loving gesture, instead I went into immediate panic mode about whether or not I would contract the miserable cold he has. Should I wash my mouth out with antibacterial gel and rid myself of the germs, or should I just stock up on NyQuil now? I wish I could have just revelled in the moment and experience the pure joy. Instead I got too caught up in how getting sick would affect my busy life. I hope this teaches me a lesson to just be present when playing with my boys, and not worry about anything else. Now, off to bed, must get some sleep if I am going to defeat this cold!
