In March we are embarking on a fantastic month long vacation and even though it is seven months away my excitement is almost palpable. Last night I even dreamed about it and pictured our boys playing happily in the sand in the Caribbean. Their smiles lighting up the beach and their laughter echoing in my ears. It was a beautiful dream and one that I know will come into fruition sooner than I think.
We have booked an 8 day cruise aboard the Carnival Breeze. Carnival Cruise line’s newest mega ship. With a wide variety of restaurants including Guy Fieri’s burger joint my chef husband will be happy. With a 4D theatre, live Hasbro game shows and an on board water park we will definitely experience all that a “Fun” ship has to offer! With a great child care program “Camp Carnival” my husband and I will get some alone time and with four fantastic ports to visit our thirst to see new places will be quenched. I can’t wait!
One of the many reasons we have chosen a cruising vacation is that my concerns regarding travel with food allergies are taken care of in a very professional manner. In my past experience cruising I have had the option to enjoy anything on any menu with my food allergens removed. Cruise ships follow U.S. Department of Health regulations and in my experience have truly gone the extra mile to ensure that I have a safe and worry-free dining experience. While I love exotic travel sometimes it is nice to just relax and enjoy myself and the time with my family.
As I mentioned we are going on an 8-day cruise, but will be away almost a month. The rest of our trip will be a road trip extraordinaire! Our family loves road trips so felt this was a wonderful opportunity to drive to Florida to board our cruise. Living in Ontario it will be about a 30 hour drive (without stops) but we plan to really take our time and see some of the amazing places along the way. I haven’t started to plan this part of the trip, but I know this will be what keeps me motivated through the dark days of the Canadian Winter. So many exciting places to see and explore!
What trips are you planning right now?
*Note* This post, nor the cruise we are taking are sponsored by Carnival (I wish!). We have paid for all parts of this vacation.

Wow, a month long vacation! That sounds great. Except the road trip part. I’m not a road trip fan…except for SHORT trips!
I am going on a super exotic 48 hour vacation next week. I’m going to southeast Saskatchewan! All by myself! Are you super jealous? Saskatchewan? Jealous yet?
BusyMomofTwins says
Nicole, sadly I have never been to Saskatchewan so I am a bit jealous! Always up for a trip to somewhere I haven’t been before!
I am jealous of the ‘all by myself’ part. Sounds awesome :)

This sounds like the best vacation ever! I always thought a cruise would be fun to do with kids. There is so much to do onboard, plus lots to explore on stops. March must seem like a lifetime away for you!
BusyMomofTwins says
Randalin, March does seem like a lifetime away but it is going to be worth it! Cruising is fantastic and while this is our first time going with our kids, I am confident they will love it!

Green with envy. I’m dreaming of an Alaskan cruise with my girls but not likely to happen this year
BusyMomofTwins says
Olusola, Alaska is remarkable. The girls would love it for sure (although waiting till they are old and can appreciate the remarkable scenery might be worthwhile!)

We are planning a trip to Hawaii. The length of the flight scares me, but your road trip seems slightly scarier!
I bet your family will have an amazing time on the cruise.
BusyMomofTwins says
Hawaii is one of my dream destinations. We have flow a lot with our boys. Let me know if you would like some tips.
Yes, the road trip will be long, but looking forward to some fun new stops along the way.

Cruising is my favourite way to travel! Our first cruise was with Carnival when my daughter was 4 and she LOVE Camp Carnival. I also love road trips so I’m going to enjoy reading all your other posts too… just started at the bottom! Cheers

I’ve taken 2 cruises (both with Norwegian) and one was out of Miami. But living on the West coast we flew over – what a long and tiring ordeal! I can imagine the drive you took down the coast was more fun as it was a vacation road trip on its own.
Kerrie @ Family Food and Travel says
yes it absolutely was! Such a great way to enjoy the journey.
