Easy Macaroon Chewies

Ingredients

  • 1 pouch 496 g Betty Crocker* Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 4 cups 1 L unsweetened flaked coconut
  • 1/4 cup 50 mL milk
  • 1 can 300mL sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
  • 1/2 cup 125 mL semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp 5 mL butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. In large bowl, stir together cookie mix and coconut.
  2. Stir in milk and sweetened condensed milk until well blended.
  3. Cover; refrigerate 2 hours.
  4. Heat oven to 375°F (190°C) for shiny metal baking sheet or 350°F (180°C) for dark or non-stick baking sheet.
  5. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Using 1-tablespoon-size (15 mL) measure, scoop dough onto baking sheets 2-inches (5 cm) apart.
  7. Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until edges are light golden brown.
  8. Cool 5 minutes; remove from baking sheets to wire racks.
  9. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  10. In small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips and butter on High 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and stirred smooth.
  11. Using fork, drizzle chocolate in lines over cookies. Store loosely covered.
