This weekend was all about the boys. \u00a0After some busy work weekends, and a travel weekend it was fun to devote my energy to the best two little people I could ask for.<\/p>\n
Friday was the big fundraiser for the boys’ preschool. \u00a0I am really passionate about their preschool. \u00a0It is an organized co-op with one paid staff member (the teacher) and the rest of the duty, responsibilities and upkeep done by a volunteer Board and parents. \u00a0The school is forty years old and the only one of its kind in my area. \u00a0My boys go to preschool every morning from 8:45am – 11:30pm and they LOVE it. \u00a0They love everything about it. \u00a0The kids, the structure, the play time and I love that the community comes together to make this school work. \u00a0Every parents has to do a required number of ‘duty days’ at the school, we share the laundry, the toy cleaning and even the snack responsibilities. \u00a0It is a pretty wonderful place for my boys. \u00a0 In my enthusiasm in September I volunteered to Chair the biggest fundraiser of the year. \u00a0(What was I thinking!!) After months of preparation and countless hours of my husband and I \u00a0(and a few others) the event happened and it was a great success. \u00a0I am SO proud to know that in one event we raised over $3100 for our little school. \u00a0Such a fulfilling and rewarding event to be a part of.<\/p>\n
Saturday was the much dreaded trip to the salon for haircuts. \u00a0Last haircut (in June) the boys were pretty much apoplectic about getting their haircut. \u00a0I pretty much had to hold them down for it to happen and I am confident that they ruined everyone else’s haircut experience there at the time. \u00a0Needless to say, I was a bit nervous about going again. \u00a0But, their hair was long. \u00a0Crazy wild, curly hair long. \u00a0It was time. \u00a0Plus, with Christmas just around the corner I knew it had to be done.<\/p>\n
Armed with cookies, toys and one of my best friends we headed to the salon. \u00a0To my astonishment it went okay. \u00a0The first one up\u00a0sat on his own and even though he shot me dirty looks the whole time, he was patient and seemed resigned to the notion that this was happening. \u00a0Of course the next one tried to resist, but once I gave him my cell phone to play with, he was a disgruntled participant, but a motionless one. \u00a0And with little fuss we had two dapper looking young men.<\/p>\n
Today, we woke to a dusting of snow, went out for a wonderful breakfast at a local cafe and enjoyed being together as a family. \u00a0We are rested,\u00a0rejuvenated\u00a0and ready to take on another busy week.<\/p>\n
