Brownies and ice cream is one of my favorite desserts. The combination of flavors in these rich, dense black bean brownies is absolutely the best with ice cream or a tall glass of milk.<\/p>\n

Unlike the brownies you usually make, these black bean brownies are packed with fiber, protein and sweetened with dates and applesauce.<\/p>\n

They are healthy brownies that everyone will love!<\/p>\n

The magic of brownies for me is that they feel like the perfect combination of fudge and cake. Great on their own, perfect with a caramel drizzle and always fantastic with ice cream. Plus, you can enjoy them any time of year and any holiday or family gathering.<\/p>\n

I love that this recipe for black bean brownies is gluten-free, has almost no added sugar and the addition of parchment paper means the pan is easier to clean than the blender. We made these in the Fresh and Furious Blender<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We’ve topped our brownie recipe with chocolate chips but you can modify to sprinkle marshmallows, Skor bits, white chocolate or caramel chips as the topping. All will add a hint of flavor and prevent a flat brownie top.<\/p>\n

Black Bean Brownies Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 can of black beans, rinsed (16 oz)
\n2 eggs, large
\n11 Medjool dates pitted
\n1\/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
\n1 tsp\u00a0espresso powder (or 1\/2 tsp ground espresso)
\n1 tbsp vanilla
\n1\/2 cup cocoa powder
\n1\/2 tsp\u00a0baking soda
\n1\/4 tsp\u00a0salt
\n1\/4 tsp cinnamon
\n1\/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips<\/p>\n

Black Bean Brownies Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
\nLine 9 x 9 dish with parchment paper
\nIn the blender add beans, eggs, dates, applesauce, espresso powder, vanilla, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.<\/p>\n

\nAdd 1\/4 cup chocolate chips and mix.
\nPour batter into dish ensuring it’s level.
\nSprinkle 1\/4 cup chocolate chips over the top and bake for 35 minutes.<\/p>\n

\nOnce slightly cooled, lift out by parchment paper and place on wire cooling rack.

      If you have any difficulty getting the blender to mix the batter (it’s quite thick) pulse the blender a few times and then once it’s started to mix it will blend smoothly. Make sure you have a spatula handy to scrape out every last drop of batter for the pan. You won’t want to waste a single drop of these amazing brownies.\u00a0\"Flourless<\/p>\n
