Bacon Cheddar Scones

September 17, 2013 Kerrie @ Family Food and Travel 3 Comments

Our family loves scones.  They are the perfect snack, or delightful bread beside a steaming hot bowl of soup.  For my scones I use Chef Michael Smith’s Cheddar Scones recipe and then make my own changes/modification/additions and voila, a new recipe!

So easy, so fast, so delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup crumbled bacon
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees Celsius.
  2. *If using fresh bacon - cook in a frying pan until crisp, set aside and drain.
  3. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add cheddar and bacon and stir.
  5. Add cream and stir until the mixture comes together.
  6. Knead the dough a few times.
  7. Pat the dough into a flat round about one inch thick and cut into eight wedges.
  8. Place them on a baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.

We served these scones alongside our Potato Leek Soup for a perfect heartwarming meal.
