Our family loves scones. They are the perfect snack, or delightful bread beside a steaming hot bowl of soup. For my scones I use Chef Michael Smith’s Cheddar Scones recipe and then make my own changes/modification/additions and voila, a new recipe!
So easy, so fast, so delicious!
Bacon Cheddar Scones
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup crumbled bacon
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
Preheat oven to 450 degrees Celsius.
*If using fresh bacon - cook in a frying pan until crisp, set aside and drain.
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Add cheddar and bacon and stir.
Add cream and stir until the mixture comes together.
Knead the dough a few times.
Pat the dough into a flat round about one inch thick and cut into eight wedges.
Place them on a baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.
We served these scones alongside our Potato Leek Soup for a perfect heartwarming meal.
