If you are a fan of fried foods you are well aware that frying food is ‘bad’ for you.

What if I told you that it was possible to create ‘fried’ food with hot air? It seems impossible, and while I was skeptical at first after reading about it and trying it out I am convinced the people at Philips who designed the Philips Airfryer are geniuses!

We know you will love this AirFry Corn Tortilla Chips Recipe.

It’s easy to make and so fast. Plus, with the airfryer technology, you skip the fat of deep frying.

Some of the great features of the Philips Airfryer:

  • Featuring Rapid Air Technology, the Philips Airfryer circulates hot air with speed and precision for perfect results with less oil
  • Adjustable temperature control up to 390 degrees allows you to cook a variety of food
  • 30-minute timer with ready signal and auto shut-off
  • Dishwasher-safe parts for a quick and easy cleanup
  • 1.8lb cooking basket capacity
  • Recipe booklet with more than 25 delicious recipes created exclusively for the Philips Airfryer

Check out how it works:

One of our favorite snacks is nachos and salsa with cantina style chips. I knew that making these chips was easy if you had corn tortillas and a deep fryer so I set out to make these in the Philips Airfryer. I was amazed.

Just 1 tbsp of olive oil and 3 minutes and I had perfectly delicious, crunchy tortilla chips!

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Philips AirFryer to 200C.

  3. Brush with olive oil.
  4. Place half of the tortilla pieces in wire basket and airfry for 3 minutes.

The best part about this recipe is the small amount of oil used, and the ability to control the amount of sodium in the chips. This healthier version of tortilla chips will be a hit at your next party, and perfect for after school snacks.

Since creating this recipe we’ve also made restaurant-worthy Airfried Coconut Shrimp with Pina Colada Dip. Absolutely fantastic and quick enough to make any night of the week.

Amazon sells a eefurbished air fryer for $84. I just bought one and it’s amazing. Nothing about is refurbished. It’s brand new. I outhink frozen chicken wings in it for 25 min and they came out super crispy and delicious.

How can people rate recipes when they haven’t tried them? I used 4 corn tortillas – not the 8 specified – and it took me 6 minutes to cook (while shaking the basic periodically to ensure they all had a chance to brown). I can’t imagine how you managed to get 8 whole corn tortillas in there! In any event, they weren’t bad … they probably could have used another minute or so. I think next time I’ll season the chips prior to cooking in airfryer … the seasoning simply fell off once they were taken out. Nothing to adhere them to the chip.

Max – I’m sorry that your seasoning fell off. I found with the olive oil that gave them enough to stick to but I like the idea of seasoning afterwards. And yes, will adjust the recipe to say to do them in two batches – that was an error. My apologies!

Thanks for this healthier and fast way of making tortilla chips! I have the small Power XL and thought it would be a great appliance for me and my pre-teens. It’s a hit and there’s no need to cook their fav foods on the stovetop anymore! I’m so impressed that I just bought the 5.3 quart size yesterday, so that I could make bigger meals that include roasted veggies and a whole chicken! I also have a pressure cooker that I love. Who needs a microwave or stove anymore!

These were really good! I had to fry in a single layer and for 4 minutes to get them to crisp-up and brown a bit, as we like them. No need for salt if you dip in guac or salsa. Definitely a keeper.

Why is the recipe specific to ‘corn’ tortillas? Have you tried others and they don’t work? Hubby and I are trying to be more low carb so we have the lower carb tortillas. I have not tried to make chips with my air fryer yet, even though that’s why I bought the thing. :-) I keep reading “corn” and I really don’t want to waste food if my tortillas aren’t going to work. Thoughts?

Sorry I have only made them with corn tortillas. I can’t see any problems with making them with other types of tortillas.

Tortilla chips are usually deep-fried so making them in the air fryer is absolutely heathier.

Have you tried popcorn? Would one need to use parchment paper to keep kernels in the basket?

If you have a different air fryer, how can you convert the temp on this one to your own? I have the Power XL… would love to try this because my family eats a lot of tortillas. Thanks!
